Les Nubians
Les Nubians – A Sisterhood of Soul & Culture
|
“Our music is a bridge where people can meet, dance, love, and create.” - Célia Faussart (Les Nubians) The Artist:
R&B Grammy-nominated Les Nubians have been wowing audiences since 1998 with their distinctive musical style and soulful performances. Founded by sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France, Les Nubians have brought the Afropean style of music into focus and helped to pave the way for artists such as Nneka and Erykah Badu. Even from an early age, the Faussart sisters have used their experiences living in Africa and the Bordeaux region of France as inspiration for music and poetry. Their first album, Princesses Nubiennes was released in 1998, with the single “Makeda” bringing Les Nubians to the top of the U.S. charts. With their second album, One Step Forward, the group progressed to an even greater level of achievement with a Grammy nomination for the song “Je Veux D’la Musique.” Since their formation, the pair has released four critically acclaimed albums, establishing them as one of the most successful French-language groups in decades. Les Nubians’ most recent album, Nü Revolution, was released in Fall 2010. The sisters continue to bring their incredible live performances and selfless charitable efforts all over the world.
The Song:
“If it could be true that I have 2 sisters from Cameroon, they would be Helene and Célia Faussart. Since our first meeting and recording together in Paris over 10 years ago, they have continued to be a tremendous source of inspiration, integrity and love for me and my work in the world.” – Frank Fitzpatrick
